  Son of Shri V. Madhavan Pillai and Smt. B. Thankamma; born at Thiruvananthapuram on 5th October 1950; B.A, LL.B; Social, Political and Trade Union Worker.    
     
 

Entered politics through students movement; Led many agitations including the one against corruption in private educational institutions in Kerala; Took active part in the formation of SFI in 1970 and DYFI in 1980; Served as District Secretary of KSYF; First State Secretary of DYFI and All India President of DYFI; Was arrested several times; Imprisoned for 6 months during the period of emergency. Led the parliament March in 15th September 1981, raising the slogan, "Education for AIL Job for All". Organised "Human Chain" from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram as a part of Campaign for promoting communal harmony in 1987. Led several agitations; brutally assaulted by police at Karakkonam in Thiruvananthapuram District. Was Secretary, CPI(M) Thiruvananthapuram District Committee.

 
     
  Served as Office bearer of Various Trade Unions; Was Member. Senate and Syndicate, University of Kerala;Was District Secretary ofCPI(M) (2002-2006) Was Hon'ble Speaker in the X KLA. Now, Member, CPI(M) State Committee.


Elected to KLA in 1987, 1991, 1996 and 2006.
